Pregnancy Massage

Safe Massage throughout the different phases of your pregnancy. Massage may help before conception to regulate hormones and your menstrual cycle, we would be striving to optimise your constitution and reduce any anxiety around conception, especially if you are receiving fertility treatment.

Massage during pregnancy provides a space to enjoy being pregnant, to be with your baby and experience the potential of deep relaxation. This holistic approach will allow you to be in the moment, developing the ability to relax is excellent preparation for labour.

I will create an environment where you may simply ‘be’ and rest whilst I massage your body. I encourage you to receive Massage and Bodywork throughout your pregnancy as the bodywork will be more effective over time preparing your body for labour by improving flexibility and remind you to breathe deeply into your being.

At the beginning of your pregnancy, you may find physical and emotional changes leave you feeling uncomfortable or tired. Massage will relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and support labour by supporting the body to be more flexible. Massage helps to stimulate soft tissues to reduce the collection of fluids in swollen joints, may help ease symptoms such as swollen feet, legs, hands and aching backs and also improves the body’s lymphatic drainage system to reduce the buildup of fluid in the tissues and joints.


Sciatic nerve pain is experienced by many women in late pregnancy as the uterus rests upon the muscles of the pelvic floor and lower back. The pressure of the uterus spreads tension to the muscles of the upper and lower leg, causing them to swell and put pressure on nearby nerves. Massage therapy positively impacts on the inflamed nerves by helping to release the tension on nearby muscles. Many women have experienced a significant reduction in sciatic nerve pain during pregnancy through regular Massage.

The position which you receive Massage will change through the changing shape of your body during the different stages. This will ensure you feel as comfortable as possible and ensure that you and baby stay safe. I will use supports and pillows to support the shape of your body and we may use the onsite chair to ensure you are comfortable as each area of your body is soothed and released from aches, pains and tensions.

There may be times throughout your pregnancy where different emotions arise, you will be supported with compassion at all times.
